The provision of hospital services to eligible persons in County Mayo, in this instance, is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
257 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department will examine the case of a person (details supplied) in County Waterford who is awaiting heart by-pass surgery at St. James's Hospital, Dublin, and who has been advised that his condition is acute but has been unable to determine when his operation will be carried out.
