Vol. 495 No. 1

Written Answers. - Architectural Heritage.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

348 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the plans, if any, she has to introduce legislation to place the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage on a statutory basis; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [19063/98]

The drafting of a Bill to place the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage on a statutory basis, as part of a package of measures for strengthening the protection of the architectural heritage announced by myself and my colleague, the Minister for the Environment and Local Government, Deputy Dempsey, in May 1998, is at an advanced stage and I expect to be able to publish the Bill shortly.
