Vol. 495 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

362 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, his Department has to refurbish the Garda stations at Killybegs and Castlefin, County Donegal; if so, the type of works to be carried out; the amount of funding provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19378/98]

It is proposed to refurbish the existing station and provide additional accommodation by incorporating the adjacent house at Castlefin. A report from the Office of Public Works on the works required is awaited.

Discussions are on-going between local Garda management and the Department of Social, Community and family Affairs, who share the building in which the Garda station is accommodated at Killybegs, to agree a refurbishment scheme. It is not possible to say at this stage when works might commence as it is dependent on overall priorities and the availability of finance.
