Vol. 495 No. 1

Written Answers. - Courts Service.

Question:

371 Mr. Lenihan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has satisfied himself that current arrangements are adequate to ensure there is proper service of proceedings in all matrimonial cases. [19564/98]

Service of proceedings issued under the various Family Law Acts is effected in accordance with the relevant rules of court. It is a matter for the trial judge to grant an extension of time or change the mode of service. This is a judicial decision and accordingly I have no function in the matter.
