135 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of times he has made a written direction to the Secretary General of his Department under section 7 of the Public Service Management Act, 1997; the number of times, if any, a direction related to appointments or promotions within his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have made three written directions to the Secretary General of the Department under section 7 of the Public Service Management Act, 1997. Two related to promotions and one to assignments in the Department. I will forward to the Deputy for ease of reference a copy of my statement in the Dáil on 1 October 1998.
