Vol. 495 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Dick Spring

Question:

176 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Education and Science the timetable for the construction of the amalgamated secondary school at Mounthawk, Tralee, County Kerry; and the estimated cost of the project. [20671/98]

The building unit of my Department is examining the developed sketch scheme for the proposed new amalgamated secondary school at Mounthawk, Tralee, County Kerry and when the submission has been found to be satisfactory, the project will proceed to stage four of architectural planning — working drawings. When the working drawings have been completed, a bill of quantities will be prepared at which stage, the project will be ready to go to tender. It is not possible to say at this point when construction will begin.

It is not the policy of my Department to reveal the estimated cost of projects in advance of tendering as this could compromise the tender process.
