Vol. 495 No. 5

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy McDowell. I now call on Deputy McDowell to state the matter of which he has given notice to me.

I seek leave to move the motion on his behalf. I seek leave to move the Adjournment of the Dáil to discuss an issue of national importance, namely, the apparent decision of the EU Commission not to ratify Government proposals for a new urban renewal scheme.

Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be one contemplated by Standing Order 31. Therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
