Question:

76 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will provide figures on the cost of consultancies undertaken by the private sector for his Department for each of the years from 1995 to 1997 and the forecasted figure for 1998. [20710/98]

Most of these consultancies were commissioned by the Development Co-operation Division of the Department, in connection with Ireland's bilateral aid programme, to assist with the review and evaluation of existing projects and to plan, design and prepare new projects for developing countries in Africa.

The following is a breakdown of the costs of consultancies commissioned by the Development Co-operation Division (Vote 39) and the remainder of the Department (Vote 38).
