Vol. 495 No. 5

Written Answers. - Installation Aid Scheme.

Austin Deasy

Question:

113 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the position regarding applications for the installation aid scheme which were lodged with Teagasc and other private planners prior to 7 August 1997 but were not fully completed due to delays in Land Registry; the plans, if any, he has to allow these applications; and, if so, when payment will issue. [20712/98]

The additional National Exchequer funding provided in 1997 and 1998 enables my Department to process the remaining valid applications which had been received in the Department when the scheme of installation aid was suspended on 7 August 1997.

The proposed new scheme, which is to be focused on those young farmers most in need of assistance, includes a provision to accommodate farmers who failed to make application to the Department under the earlier scheme before its suspension. The proposed scheme is still awaiting the approval of the EU Commission.
