Vol. 495 No. 7

Written Answers. - DART Service.

Billy Timmins

Question:

197 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Public Enterprise when the work on the DART line to Greystones, County Wicklow, will be completed; and when the service will be in use. [21972/98]

I understand from Iarnród Éireann that work on the extension to Greystones is well under way. The overhead line will be installed by the end of 1998 and the other physical work will be completed in the spring of 1999. The new DART carriages will be delivered in the autumn of 1999. However, while no decision has yet been made, the company may decide to run a partial service once the infrastructural element has been completed and before the arrival and commissioning of the new vehicles.
