Vol. 495 No. 7

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

Michael Ring

Question:

475 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the plans, if any, he has for a new wheelchair accessible centre to be provided, or funding for same, in Belmullet, County Mayo for the Erris Branch of the Irish Wheelchair Association in view of the fact that the current building is completely inadequate and overcrowded for the services that need to be provided to its members. [21814/98]

I have allocated additional capital funding totalling £3 million to the health boards in 1998 for the provision of services to people with physical and sensory disabilities. The Western Health Board received funding of £270,000 from this allocation, of which £60,000 has been allocated to the Irish Wheelchair Association for the Erris Day Activity Centre in County Mayo.
