Vol. 496 No. 3

Written Answers. - Crop Losses.

Michael Ring

Question:

218 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Mayo living within an eligible district electoral division will qualify for the compensation under the £10 million farmers aid scheme in view of the fact that he does not have sufficient land or stock to qualify for headage payments. [22775/98]

The fodder scheme is directed at all sheep farmers with mountain grazings and suckler cow producers and small dairy farmers with milk quotas of less than 35,000 gallons in district electoral divisions in the worst affected areas based on a Teagasc survey published in September. The scheme is intended for farmers with significant fodder problems. Failure to qualify for headage payments will not automatically rule out qualification for the fodder scheme.
