Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Sargent — the need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to immediately revoke measure 5 of the rural environment protection scheme to prevent the further destruction of hedgerows by farmers and agricultural contractors; (2) Deputy Fox — the need to discuss the ongoing TB problem in County Wicklow; (3) Deputy Fitzgerald — the crisis in child care and the difficulty in implementing the regulations in relation to inspecting nurseries; (4) Deputy Seán Ryan — the need for the Government to recognise the role of carers in health care in Ireland and to provide them with improved services and to ensure they are paid for their work; (5) Deputy Broughan — the urgent need to offer immediate treatment to citizens with suspected breast cancer; (6) Deputy Michael Higgins — the need to discuss the deteriorating situation in Iraq, the threat of resumed war, the need for a UN sponsored peaceful resolution and the present position in relation to disruption of humanitarian relief; (7) Deputy Wall — the urgent need to investigate the rules governing the essential repairs grant as operated by county councils and the need to ensure in all cases where an OAP makes such an application for repairs to flat roofs on bathrooms and back kitchens that the grant is provided; (8) Deputy Noel Ahern — the need to discuss the suspension of staff from the Botanic Gardens and the efforts to solve this dispute; (9) Deputy Upton — the need to address the need to increase Dublin peak hour capacity on public transport; (10) Deputy O'Shea — the need to prevent the dismantling of the architectural technology course at Limerick Institute of Technology (11) Deputy Finucane — the need to change the status of the working principal to an administrative principal for a school (details supplied) in County Limerick.

The matters raised by Deputies Michael Higgins, Fox, Fitzgerald and Broughan have been selected for discussion.
