Vol. 496 No. 5

Written Answers. - Remuneration Levels.

Michael Ring

Question:

120 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Finance if he has received the report (details supplied) regarding the pay structure in the non-public sector; if so, when he will publish this report; whether he will adopt the recommendations contained in the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23303/98]

On 13 July 1998 I received the report which I had commissioned on the remuneration of chief executives of commercial State bodies.

I had commissioned the report in the context of the Government decision, announced on 24 March 1998, to modify the recommendations contained in Report No. 37 of the Review Body on Higher Remuneration in the Public Sector in relation to chief executives of the commercial State bodies.

The detailed information contained in the report is being assessed by my Department. When that process has been completed I will be in a position to bring proposals to Government as to the salary rate to apply to the chief executive of each commercial State body.

There are no plans to publish the report.
