Vol. 496 No. 5

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Jack Wall

Question:

129 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will sanction an extension to Athy sewerage scheme, County Kildare, to include all areas within the urban boundary; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23295/98]

Proposals have been received by my Department to extend the sewerage scheme to certain districts within the urban area. Given the high level of existing commitments under the water and sewerage services investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve the proposals. The local authority may wish to consider its proposals in the context of the small schemes programme, responsibility for which has been devolved to the local authorities.
