Question:232 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a headage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [23856/98]
The person named is not an applicant under the headage schemes. The person named applied on 44 animals under the 1998 suckler cow premium scheme. One animal died and was replaced by an in-calf heifer. Before payment can be made confirmation must be obtained that the replacement animal is due to calve as declared. The person named was written to on 30 October 1998 and asked to advise the Department when the in-calf heifer had calved. To date, no reply has been received from the person named. The Department will accept a scanning certificate or AI insemination certificate as evidence that the animal in question was in-calf at the time of replacement.
