Question:340 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when draft planning guidelines to local authorities on high amenity landscape and planning guidelines on county development plans will be published. [23612/98]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 339 and 340 together.
Draft planning guidelines on forestry development have been published and the views of interested parties and the general public received. The final guidelines will be published as soon as possible. Draft planning guidelines on high amenity landscapes are under preparation in my Department with a view to publication at the earliest opportunity in the new year. As to draft guidelines on development plans, it would be premature to publish such guidelines in advance of the extensive proposals for the reform of the planning code which I intend to bring to Government shortly.
