394 Ms Clune asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the arrangements, if any, he has put in place in his Department to offset any adverse effects of the millennium bug; the effects the millennium bug will have; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23531/98]
My Department has established a year 2000 monitoring committee, including representatives of the agencies, to ensure that my Department and each agency under its aegis is taking appropriate steps to ensure compliance. My Department is also providing two-monthly progress reports to the Interdepartmental Year 2000 monitoring committee. This committee was established in September 1997 to oversee the achievement of year 2000 compliance for IT-related systems and automated office equipment in Government Departments and in agencies under their aegis.
