Vol. 496 No. 6

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

459 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received an application from St. Rynagh's primary school, Banagher, County Offaly, for an additional classroom; if he will respond positively to the application and include it in the 1999 primary school building programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23938/98]

The management of St. Rynagh's national school has applied for additional accommodation to my Department. Following a review of the school's needs, it is anticipated that enrolments will continue to decline, thus reducing the school's accommodation requirements. My Department will continue to monitor the enrolment figures and should there be a deviation from that projected, the school's application will be reexamined. The school was advised of the position on 15 April 1998.
