Vol. 496 No. 7

Written Answers. - Youth Services.

Bernard Allen

Question:

291 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education and Science the proposals, if any, he has to rectify the situation where there is no youth service development scheme in the Riverstown and Glanmire area of Cork city which has a population in excess of 6,000 people, over 50 per cent of them being young people. [24021/98]

Applications for funding for the coming year in respect of youth work services will be considered in due course and will have regard to policy considerations, existing commitments and to the overall level of financial resources available for the youth sector. Applications in respect of local initiatives for disadvantaged youth should be submitted to my Department via the appropriate grant administering agency.
