Vol. 496 No. 7

Written Answers. - Ombudsman for Children.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

94 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Health and Children the plans, if any, he has to introduce an ombudsman for children; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23832/98]

I am committed to the introduction of an ombudsman for children in due course but this appointment has implications for a number of Departments dealing with issues relating to children and before the issue can be progressed it will be necessary to clarify departmental roles and responsibilities in this regard.
