Vol. 497 No. 2

Written Answers - National Lottery.

Enda Kenny

Question:

216 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Finance the number of requests received by him from the National Lottery Company in respect of section 7 (1) of the National Lottery Act. 1986, for consent to appoint additional agents in each of the past five years; the method of calculation by the company of a maximum of 3,600 licensed outlets for scratch card ticket sales including a maximum of 2,010 online lotto ticket sales outlets; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24489/98]

The National Lottery Company informs me that the present number of agents selling scratch cards and lotto tickets is based on the level of population and is in accordance with international norms for sales of this kind.

No proposals to increase the number have been made by the company, under section 7 (1) (a) of the National Lottery Act, 1986, in the past five years.
