Written Answers - Inland Fisheries.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

72 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if his Department will provide funding under the tourism angling measure to the Easkey river development association to help purchase the Fortland estate at Easkey, County Sligo, which has the potential to be one of the prime spate rivers for salmon and sea trout. [24793/98]

The acquisition of fisheries is eligible for grant assistance under the tourism angling measure of the operational programme for tourism. The Central Fisheries Board advises however that no application has been made to date by the Easkey River Development Association for such a project.
