Question:

80 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if a foreshore licence at Old Head beach, Louisburgh, County Mayo, has been granted in relation to a public notice concerning an application made by Mayo County Council; and, if so, the conditions, if any, attached thereto (details supplied). [24558/98]

I propose to reply to Questions Nos. 79 and 80 together.

Mayo County Council has applied for a licence pursuant to the Foreshore Acts 1933 and 1992 in respect of the laying, use and maintenance of an outfall pipe on an area of foreshore at Old Head, Louisburgh, County Mayo.

A notice of the application was published in The Mayo News on 25 May 1998. Two objections were received within the specified period of 21 days. These objections were referred to the county council for comment. The objections together with the council's comments were then referred to the Department's specialist experts for examination.

When the examination has been completed I will consider all aspects of the case before coming to a decision on the application.
