Vol. 497 No. 4

Written Answers - Heritage Projects.

John McGuinness

Question:

134 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands when the signs indicating Dunmore Caves, County Kilkenny, will be replaced in view of their poor condition; and if further signage will be provided indicating this site. [25235/98]

I would at the outset draw the Deputy's attention to the reply which I gave to Question No. 575 of 3 November last in relation to the condition of signs to heritage sites in County Kilkenny.

In relation to the sites in the county where I am the owner or guardian, I consider that the signs to these sites generally, and to Dunmore Caves in particular are in good condition. It is not intended, therefore to replace the existing signs indicating Dunmore Caves. I understand, however, that difficulties have been experienced by the public in locating Dunmore and consequently Dunmore Caves. I intend to address this matter in consultation with the local authority.
