Vol. 497 No. 4

Written Answers - Crime Levels.

Bernard Allen

Question:

25 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, he has to re-adjust the Garda report on crime figures for the first six months of 1998 in view of the fact that the figures for two Garda divisions were incorrectly entered; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25038/98]

As I stated in my reply to Question No. 33 on Tuesday, 20 October 1998, the crime figures the Deputy is referring to are provisional statistics, and as such are subject to change. I understand that the error was rectified almost immediately, and that the Garda Síochána Annual Report on Crime for 1998 will not therefore be affected.
