Vol. 497 No. 4

Written Answers - Garda Allowances.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

57 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will introduce a Dublin allowance for gardaí working in the city; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25157/98]

There are claims for a Dublin allowance before the Garda Conciliation Council which was established under the Garda Síochána conciliation and arbitration scheme. The proceedings of the council are confidential and it would not be appropriate for me to comment further on the matter. However, there are no plans to introduce such an allowance.
