Vol. 497 No. 5

Written Answers - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Michael Ring

Question:

214 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for cataract treatment. [25526/98]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Mayo in this instance is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.

Question:

215 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will ensure that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6W receives the urgent medical procedure required; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25574/98]

The Deputy will appreciate that the scheduling of hospital admissions is solely a matter for the relevant hospital personnel to determine based upon clinical priority. Therefore, I have asked the chief executive officer at the hospital concerned to reply directly to the Deputy in this regard as a matter of urgency.
