Vol. 497 No. 5

Written Answers - Special Educational Needs.

Jan O'Sullivan

Question:

327 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the urgent accommodation needs of the dyslexic support centre, Barrington's, Georges Quay, Limerick; if his Department will assist the centre which caters for more than 250 children; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25345/98]

I am aware of the issue to which the Deputy refers.

Earlier this year, my Department allocated a once-of grant of £14,000 to the dyslexia support centre, Limerick.

The Deputy will appreciate that there are considerable calls on my Department for the allocation of resources and, therefore, I am prioritising the considerable needs of recognised schools.
