Question:

79 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if his attention has been drawn to the work of an organisation (details supplied) which works to ensure the equitable development of the world's forests; if he has met with representatives of the organisation; and his views on its objectives. [25350/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 78 and 79 together.

I am familiar with the work of the two organisations referred to by the Deputy. The forest service of my Department has been consistently supportive of a range of projects undertaken by both organisations under the Operational Programme for Agriculture, Rural Development and Forestry, 1994—1999. Officials of the forest service have met regularly with the organisations concerned.
