Vol. 498 No. 1

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Ulick Burke

Question:

201 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a person (details supplied) in County Galway was selected for a REP scheme audit on 1 November 1997, was audited on 7 June 1998 and has had no further communication from his Department; his views on this situation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26651/98]

Consequent on the on-farm inspection carried out in relation to the REPS application from the person named, certain deficiencies were found in the plan. A revised plan has now been requested. The application will be processed when this is received.

Due to a backlog which has arisen in dealing with plan and compliance checking in Galway, it was not possible to deal with this application earlier. However, additional resources have now been assigned to the western region and to Galway in particular.
