Question:

310 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, the Office of Public Works has for the old Garda station in Bangor Erris, County Mayo. [26431/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 309 and 310 together.

The Garda authorities have informed me that the current Garda station accommodation in Bangor Erris is in good condition. The personnel strength of the station, as of 4 December 1998, is one sergeant and three gardaí.

The former station was part of a larger building that included married quarters and Garda management are currently reviewing their accommodation needs at this location. If it is decided that the former Garda station is surplus to requirements it would then be a matter for the Office of Public Works to decide on the future use of the building.
