Vol. 498 No. 2

Written Answers. - Local Authority Meetings.

John Browne

Question:

215 Mr. Browne (Wexford) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will instruct all local authorities to hold their estimate meetings in public in the interests of transparency and openness; and his views on the matter. [26994/98]

Being fully open to the press, local authority estimates meetings are at present held in public. Legislation currently being prepared in my Department will provide for wider access to such meetings by the general public.
