Vol. 498 No. 2

Written Answers. - Housing Grants.

Austin Deasy

Question:

218 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if the decision to refuse payment under the old house improvement grant scheme on compassionate grounds for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford will be re-examined. [26997/98]

Where, in a case such as this, the improvement works are carried out by the applicant to a house he owns, it is a condition of the grants scheme that the works be done by employees of the applicant and that their tax details are provided to the Department. The applicant has not provided these details and, accordingly, a grant cannot be allowed to him.
