Question:

177 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will have his area aid file cleared and outstanding cattle headage and suckler cow grants paid to him. [27330/98]

The area aid application of the person concerned has been processed. Payments on a reduced area issued on the basis of the information available on 12 November 1998. Additional information has since allowed the application to be cleared on an increased area.

178 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 1998 cattle headage, suckler cow and special beef premia; if payment will issue before Christmas; if the original deeds of his land sent with the application by registered post will be returned to the herd owner in view of the fact that the documents have been in his family for generations. [27333/98]

The person named was paid the 80 per cent advance of £549.69 under the 1998 suckler cow premium scheme on 10 December 1998 and he will be paid his entitlement under the 1998 cattle headage scheme within the next seven days. No application has been received from the person named under the 1998 special beef premium scheme.

No original title deeds have been received with any application made by the person named. The photocopy of folio 20090 which was received in the Department in 1989 has been returned.

179 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has not received 1998 cattle headage and suckler cow payments; when payment will issue; and the reason for the delay in this regard. [27334/98]

The person named cannot be paid any grants under the 1998 cattle headage scheme and 1998 suckler cow premium scheme as she is not the registered herdowner as required under the terms and conditions of the schemes. The person named should apply to her local district veterinary office to be registered as a herdowner and when registration is completed her applications under the 1998 schemes will be further considered.

180 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason the area aid unit of his Department has not contacted a person (details supplied) in County Mayo regarding a 1998 application in view of the fact that in a previous reply to a parliamentary question it was stated that difficulties had arisen with the application; and when he will receive 1998 headage and premia entitlements. The area aid application from the person named has been processed. Any payments due will issue as soon as possible.

181 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (detailed supplied) in County Mayo will receive 1998 cattle and sheep headage and suckler cow premia; the reason these payments have not issued; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27336/98]

182 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 1998 sheep headage; and the reason incorrect information was supplied in Parliamentary Question No. 151 of 1 December 1998 in view of the fact that his local office can confirm that a record of his area aid application is in on computer. The person named submitted a 1998 area aid application as a new entrant. He did not therefore have a herd number. The area aid unit was unable to record the application until a herd number was allocated to the person named as result of an inspection. The inspection has now been concluded and the application recorded. Any payments due will issue as soon as possible.

The area aid application for the person named is currently being finalised. When this has been completed any outstanding payments due will issue as soon as possible.

186 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has not received 1998 sheep headage; if payment will issue before Christmas; and the reason the area aid unit has not been in touch with him to indicate if a difficulty has arisen on his application. The area aid application for the person named was originally incorrectly recorded with a forage area of 9.37 hectares and payment in respect of sheep headage issued based on this area. The forage area has been amended to 39.37 hectares and a supplementary payment will issue to the person named in respect of the remaining sheep headage payment due.

187 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if the computer confusion which has arisen on an application for area aid for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be corrected whereby his former abolished herd number is still being used by departmental computers when he is operating and applying under his inherited herd number in view of the fact that this error is hindering long awaited area aid payments. The area aid application for the person has been processed under herd number P1381154.

The person named was paid the first instalment of £603.83 on 19 June 1998 and the second instalment of £781.60 on 22 October 1998 under the 1998 ewe premium scheme.

The person named was paid £439.17 under the 1998 suckler cow premium scheme on 14 December 1998.

The person named will be paid his entitlements under the 1998 cattle headage scheme and the 1998 sheep headage scheme within the next seven days.

189 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan has not been paid 1998 headage grants; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27378/98]

Difficulties have arisen in processing the area aid application of the person named. When these have been resolved, the application will be further processed.
