Vol. 498 No. 5

Written Answers. - Community Day Schemes.

Noel Ahern

Question:

166 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason incontinence pads are not allowed under the drugs refund or drugs cost subsistence schemes; the plans, if any, he has to allow these pads to be available under the schemes or when expenditure is above a reasonable limit; his views on the enormous cost of pads for elderly people; and the means, if any, by which they can obtain assistance. [28085/98]

The inclusion of incontinence wear under the community drugs schemes is currently being reviewed in the context of the introduction of the new drugs payment scheme and the introduction of a single list of reimbursable items for all schemes.
