Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.
An application for funding under the sports capital programme operated by my Department was received from the centre in May 1997. The 1998 round of allocations under the programme was made earlier this year and all funds have now been committed to a number of projects around the country. The committee was advised in April, 1998 and again in August, 1998 that it was not among the projects approved for grant aid in 1998. The sports capital programme has been under review by my Department for the past few months. This review has just been completed, and I expect details of the new programme to be announced shortly. The new programme will be widely publicised and it will then be open to clubs and organisations to apply for funding.
