Vol. 498 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Placement.

Richard Bruton

Question:

208 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 250 of 9 December 1998, he will appoint an inspector to assess in detail the suitability of the placements offered to the person in view of the fact the parents dispute their suitability and have provided evidence that the placements are not suitable and this view has been corroborated by those with experience in the field. [28002/98]

A member of my Department's inspectorate is in contact with the parents of the child referred to by the Deputy concerning a suitable educational placement. I have asked that further consultation take place with the parents to address the issue raised by the Deputy concerning the suitability of the educational placements available.
