Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Ulick Burke — the need for the Minister to provide adequate resources and man-power in south Galway stretching from Gort to Kinvara and Athenry to increase Garda presence in this area following recent alarming attacks; (2) Deputy O'Sullivan — the urgent need to introduce legislation to provide access to birth records for adopted people; (3) Deputy Howlin — the circumstances surrounding the awarding of the vehicle testing contract to SGS (Ireland); (4) Deputy McGinley — an geárghá le háiseanna breise do Ghairm Scoil Chú Uladh sa Ghaeltacht Lár i nDún na nGall; (5) Deputy Shatter — the shortfall in staffing at St. Munchen's regional maternity hospital in Limerick which resulted in twins born yesterday being transferred to a neo-natal unit in Cork and the need for the Department of Health and Children to properly fund our maternity services; (6) Deputy Upton — the need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to clarify the situation in relation to the deportation of asylum seekers, and (7) Deputy Gerard Reynolds — the need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to clarify why the proprietors of Ballinamore Textiles in County Leitrim were requested to pay back grant assistance received from the IDA.

The matters raised by Deputies O'Sullivan, Ulick Burke, Upton and McGinley have been selected for discussion.
