Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - Recycling Schemes.

John Gormley

Question:

686 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans, if any, he has to assist Nenagh recycling centre; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26375/98]

In November 1997, I approved grant assistance of up to £25,000 under the EU co-financed operational programme for environmen tal services, 1994-1999, in respect of capital expenditure by Tipperary (NR) County Council on equipment for the Nenagh recycling scheme.

This recycling scheme was suspended for a short period because of difficulties concerning a related FÁS community employment project sponsored by the county council. However, I understand that these difficulties have been resolved and that the recycling scheme recommenced operations on 11 January 1999.
