Vol. 499 No. 2

Written Answers. - Landscape Protection.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

54 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the work of a company (details supplied); the plans, if any, he has to publish a national landscape policy; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2172/99]

My Department is currently giving priority to the preparation of new draft planning guidelines on high amenity landscapes. The guidelines will supplement a number of different codes of law and other initiatives in protecting the landscape, the responsibility for which rests with a number of Departments.

I am aware of the work referred to in promoting the protection of the landscape.
