Vol. 499 No. 3

Written Answers - Services for People with Disabilities.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

238 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Health and Children when the report on the fares to work scheme will be published; if another similar scheme is envisaged in the near future to financially assist disabled persons travelling to re-training centres; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2491/99]

I have been in contact with the National Rehabilitation Board who commissioned the report on the fares to work scheme and I have been informed that this report is completed and is to be published shortly.

This project is one of three projects carried out under the employer resource initiative which was an innovatory activity funded from the European Social Fund under Article 6. Each project has been evaluated and it is the National Rehabilitation Board's intention to publish the three reports as a composite document as soon as the final outstanding evaluation is received. It is hoped that publication will occur within the next two months. It is not possible at this stage to comment on any plans for future schemes until details of the new operational programmes are settled.
