Written Answers - Traffic Wardens.

Question:

314 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if traffic wardens in the Dublin city area will be transferred to Dublin Corporation; if so, when this will occur; if he has satisfied himself that their employment and conditions will be protected; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that these employees are dissatisfied with the negotiations to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. O'Donoghue):

I wish to confirm that the traffic warden service will transfer to Dublin Corporation in accordance with the Government decision of 26 July 1995.

Discussions are ongoing with Dublin Corporation, the unions and the relevant Government Departments in relation to the traffic wardens' conditions and to effect the transfer at the earliest possible date.
