338 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Education and Science the plans, if any, he has for Fingal Education Resource Group based at Holy Faith De La Salle secondary school, Skerries, County Dublin; and the role, if any, his Department will to play in the development, support and evaluation of this unique and successful example of partnership in education. The application from the group was one of a large number of applications received from consortia seeking inclusion in the 8 to 15 Early School Leavers Initiative.
All applications were examined in detail by a selection committee comprised of Departmental and non-Departmental personnel who have expertise in this area.
A total of 14 project areas were selected for support. Unfortunately, the group to which the Deputy refers was not successful on this occasion. All applicants were advised of the outcome of the selection process in August, 1998.
It is open to the group to submit a written application through County Dublin VEC for an allocation of teaching hours. If such an application is received it will be considered by my Department in the normal way.
