Vol. 499 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

121 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received a proposal (details supplied) for funding from Meath VEC to secure the provision of a second level school in Enfield, County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3090/99]

I understand County Meath Vocational Education Committee has not received a formal application for the provision of a second level school in Enfield, County Meath and, accordingly, has not sought funding from my Department in the matter.

I have, however, received an application from the Enfield environment group for the provision of a community school in Enfield. This application, dated 16 January 1999, has been referred to the planning section of my Department for attention.

John McGuinness

Question:

122 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has examined an application from Church Hill national school, Cuffe's Grange, County Kilkenny, regarding accommodation requirements; the intentions of his Department in relation to the application; and the timeframe involved in this regard. [3091/99]

The manager of Church Hill national school, Cuffe's Grange, County Kilkenny, has applied to my Department for grant-aid towards the cost of additional accommodation.

Reports on the matter, which have been received from the school's inspector and the Office of Public Works, are under examination by the Department's building unit. When this examination is complete a decision will be conveyed to the school manager.

At this stage it is not possible to give a definite timeframe for any works at the school.
