Vol. 500 No. 3

Written Answers. - Coastal Protection.

Donal Carey

Question:

35 Mr. D. Carey asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources when the coastal protection works will be carried out at Quilty, County Clare, in view of the fact that the Quilty to Kilkee road is being undermined and the works need to be carried out urgently. [3727/99]

My Department has received from Clare County Council a detailed report on the erosion problems at Quilty, which was drawn up for the local authority by consulting engineers. This report has been assessed by my Department, and I propose to give high priority to the funding needs for a costed programme of works at Quilty in the context of the 1999 coastal protection programme.
