Vol. 500 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Offices.

Austin Deasy

Question:

232 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Finance the proposals, if any, there are to transfer part of the office of the Revenue Commissioners to Dungarvan, County Waterford; if so, the projected number of personnel involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4107/99]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that they have decided to open a local office in the new local authority office complex in Dungarvan, County Waterford. The revenue facility will include a vehicle registration office and a customer service and local collection unit.

The Dungarvan office will be staffed from within existing resources by two executive officers and two clerical officers. The office will be under the management of the Collector of Customs and Excise, Government Buildings, Waterford.

The commissioners have decided on this move as part of their general policy of providing ser vices locally and directly to the taxpayer wherever possible. The new office will provide the people of Dungarvan, and the surrounding areas, with enhanced customer services, including in particular an on the spot facility to register new and used motor vehicles on payment of vehicle registration tax.
