Vol. 500 No. 4
309 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the entries in the diary of the Cabinet Minister in her Department for 1 February 1989. [4058/99]
The Deputy will be aware that my Department was established in January 1993 when responsibilities were transferred to the then Department of the Gaeltacht from a number of other Departments in relation to functions concerning arts and culture, including film, broadcasting and heritage policy.
On 1 February 1989, the office of Minister for the Gaeltacht was held by the then Taoiseach, Mr. Charles J. Haughey, who, I understand, did not maintain a private office in the then Department of the Gaeltacht.
