The Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation was established in July, 1997. On 1 February 1989, sport and recreation came under the remit of the Minister for Education and Tourism came under the remit of the Minister for Tourism and Transport. Transport now comes under the remit of the Minister for Public Enterprise.
The diary for the Minister for Tourism and Transport for 1 February 1989, which is held by my Department, shows the following entries for meetings on that day:
