Question:

361 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science when funding will be made available to address the severe lack of accommodation in some departments and the need for upgrading of other departments of Our Lady's secondary school, Convent of Mercy, Belmullet, County Mayo. [4017/99]

The post-primary building unit of my Department has received an application for additional accommodation and upgrading works at the Convent of Mercy, Belmullet. In order for this matter to be considered further, the school authorities were requested to complete an educational worksheet based on a long-term enrolment of 400 pupils. When this worksheet is submitted, the building unit of my Department will evaluate the accommodation requirements of the school. My Department now awaits receipt of the completed document. The question of funding does not arise at this early stage.
